Clinical Simulation Center Facilities

The WSU Clinical Simulation Center is located in McCoy Hall, the sight of the first veterinary teaching hospital at WSU.  Thanks to generous donors and the support of students and the college, phase one renovations were completed in the summer of 2013. Renovations in phase two will include a simulated operating room (to be completed in August 2014). The remodeled space provides students the opportunity to practice their skills in a more realistic setting.
Over the next three years, the facilities will be expanded to offer more high fidelity simulation models. High fidelity models offer the physical, or haptic, feedback that a veterinarian would feel during and actual exam or surgical procedure.  The center plans to add a Calgary Horse, haptic cow, and haptic horse.  Our faculty will also develop fully integrated simulation scenarios that combine clinical skills, reasoning, communication, and team work.
