Located on WSU's Riverpoint Campus, the WSU Veterinary Specialty Teaching Clinic in Spokane, Wash. is a satellite facility supporting clinical teaching and training for the WSU veterinary program.
The specialty Clinic satellite facility was established to support and supplement veterinary clinical teaching and training for the WSU veterinary program. Students will be accepted by the practice for training in ophthalmology, dentistry and dermatology.
The facility also serves to support the specialist referral needs of the greater Spokane area veterinary community. A long-time veterinary ophthalmologist and owner of the Animal Eye Clinic of Spokane, Dr. Bill Yakely and his staff continue his practice in the new facility.
The development and operation of the clinic was aided by a $2.7 million estate gift from WSU veterinary alumnus, Dr. Bernard Pinckney. It was his wish that this gift be used to establish a satellite clinic to offer continuing education opportunities for students and practitioners. The facility involves public-private partnerships between referral veterinary practices and Washington State University.
