Rules for Athletic Contests

Co-Ed Inner Tube Water Polo

Overview: None at this time.

Rules

  1. Each team will consist of 6 players – one goalkeeper and 5 other players. Co-ed teams comprised of 3 males and 3 females are required. Five players must be present to avoid forfeit, at least 3 women in co-ed. In co-ed, a goal scored by a female counts as 2 points.
  2. The game will consist of two 10-minute halves. A 2-minute interval exists between halves to allow for substitutions. A coin toss will determine starting ends. The ends will change at half time.
  3. Penalty shots will be taken 4 meters from the front of the goal. Only the goalkeeper may attempt to block the shot. All other players must be 4 meters from the shooter.
  4. No shots may be taken within the 2 meter area
  5. Ordinary fouls consist of the following:
    - Holding, pushing off, pulling, tackling, and dumping an opponent.
    - Striking the ball with a closed fist.
    - Deliberately splashing an opponent.
    - Pushing or pulling along the side of the pool.
  6. Any player in possession of the ball may be dumped from his/her tube. Dumping is allowed if the player being dumped has possession of the ball.
  7. Personal fouls result in the offending player sitting out for 1 minute. They are:
    - Interfering with a free throw.
    - Committing an ordinary foul from behind an offensive player attacking their offensive goal.
    - Consecutive ordinary fouls or disobeying an official.
  8. All players must sit in tubes with both legs hanging over the edge.
