Athletic Contests

Tug-o-War
Friday, 8-10pm

The symposium would not be complete without this classic test of brute strength over brains. Get your toughest guys and gals together....and puuulllll.

Rules: Each school will be allowed one team of ten people (smaller teams are welcome to compete). The number of women must equal the number men for each team.

Volleyball
Saturday, 8am-2pm

Another symposium classic - so get six of your finest diggers, setters and spikers, and we'll see you on the court. Go to Volleyball Rules.

Innertube Water Polo
Friday, 1:30-5:30pm

Off with your clothes, on with your swimsuits, and into the water for a fun-filled game of chaos. Don't know the rules? Don't worry - the rules are simple - but please refrain from drowning the opposition! Go to Water Polo Rules.

5K Fun Run
Saturday, 8:30am

Take a pleasant run in the country, along a scenic trail that winds past our Grizzly Bear Research Facility, herds of bighorn sheep, and other exotic animals.

Ultimate Frisbee
Saturday, 12-4pm

Like to throw Frisbee? Like to run a lot? Then get together a team and see why this game really is the ultimate. No dogs allowed. Go to Ultimate Frisbee Rules.

3-Legged Race
Friday, 8-10pm

Grab a partner of the opposite sex, tie your inside legs tightly together, and hop to it. The quickest couple around the course wins the dubious title of “Joined at the Hip”.

Rules: Each school may have up to three teams. Partners must consist of one man and one woman. Races will be run in heats taking the top finishers in each heat to compete in the final race.

Obstacle Course
Friday, 8-10pm

We're looking for a few good men and women. Teams of students from each school will challenge themselves, the clock, and a devilish obstacle course designed to weed out the faint of heart. Go to Obstacle Course Rules.

Conduct Disclaimer:   Students and teams participating in 1999 SAVMA Symposium athletic competitions are expected to play with the utmost sportsmanship, courtesy, and common sense for everyone’s safety and enjoyment.
