September 18, 2014:

  • Guest Speaker: Dr. Peter Conlon, BSc (Agr), MSc, DVM, PhD, MEd
    Associate Dean, Students; Director, Hills's Pet Nutrition Primary Healthcare Centre, Ontario Veterinary College
  • Description: A brief overview of the Ontario Veterinary College, followed by a discussion describing our companion animal primary care program based in the Hill’s Pet Nutrition Primary Healthcare Centre. This will include the impetus for development of the program and an overview of the facility. Dr. Conlon will then expand on the primary care educational program (overview, experiential learning opportunities, communications learning, linkages with the didactic curriculum, outcomes assessment methods), the operation of the clinical service in the practice (overview, staffing, business considerations, makeup of the healthcare team, balancing educational and business drivers), and the current research program and research opportunities. Following the discussion, Dr. Conlon welcomes your questions and our discussions about an exciting area of veterinary education.

Sept 25-26, 2014:

  • 2014 TEC-Ed Conference: Technology-Enhanced Curricula in Higher Education
  • Summary: TECH-Ed is a two-day multidisciplinary conference focusing on the understanding and use of technology in teaching and learning in higher education. The overarching goal of the conference is to explore optimal ways to enhance student engagement, achievement, and life-long learning through the use of education technologies. With an emphasis on collaboration and networking, the conference will feature invited panels and presentations and the opportunity for participants to join experts for discussion. Topics include e-learning, flipped classrooms, STEM, Serious Educational Gaming (SEG), MOOCs, and more. Poster displays will be a highlight of TECH-Ed 2014; we invite all members of the higher education community to submit a poster proposal or just to participate.
