Patient Care

  • Obtain patient History
  • Physical examination
  • Client education
  • Diagnostic procedures
  • Specimen Collection
  • Administration of prescribed medication, treatments and vaccines
  • Intensive care nursing & monitoring
  • Nutritional management
  • Physical therapy
  • Wound management



Clinical Pathology

  • Obtain & prepare specimens & samples
  • Parasite evaluation
  • Urinalysis

Anesthesiology

  • Pre-anesthetic patient evaluation
  • Recommend anesthetic protocols for prior approval from the DVM
  • Administration of sedatives or pre-anesthetic pharmaceuticals
  • Administration of local, regional or general anesthesia
  • Patient monitoring before, during and after anesthesia
  • Patient Recovery
  • Monitoring for pain management
  • Routine maintenance of equipment



Surgical Nursing

  • Patient Preparation
  • Pre & Post-operative patient care
  • Circulating operating room nurse
  • Scrub nurse
  • Instrument & equipment maintenance & sterilization
  • Surgical suite preparation & maintenance


Dental Prophylaxis

  • Examination of oral cavity
  • Recognizing normal & abnormal conditions in the mouth
  • Cleaning & polishing dentition
  • Extraction of approved loose teeth
  • Floating/trimming teeth
  • Teaching clients how to care for their pets teeth & gums
  • Maintenance of dental equipment
 


Hospital Management

  • Medical supplies, equipment & pharmacy Inventory control
  • Client communication
  • Supervision, education & training of hospital personnel
  • Unit Scheduling
  • Billing


Instruction

  • Didactic seminars
  • Laboratory instruction
  • Clinical instruction
