The veterinary teaching
hospital at Washington State University's College of Veterinary Medicine
offers clinical internships to veterinary technician students.
These students will be assigned to one (or more) registered veterinary
technicians working within the teaching hospital. The students will be
involved with a variety of client cases that are evaluated and treated in this
state-of-the-art facility. The interns may have the opportunity to become
involved in clinical research or teaching projects, depending upon the
assigned service.
Duties and Responsibilities
It is the responsibility of the technician intern to show proficiency in the
basic technical duties of each rotation assigned. Interns will be expected to
participate in the clinic Monday-Friday from 8-5. The RVT supervisor will
oversee and evaluate the performance of the interns assigned to their service
area. The level of expertise expected by the end of the internship varies with
the length of time the intern is assigned to a given rotation.
The length of the internship depends upon the contact hours required by the
intern's college of origin.
Areas of Study
The basic program will give general experience with both small and large
animals. It may include both medicine, surgery, and anesthesia rotations. Or,
we can offer a more focused experience by modifying the program to the
interns' individual interest. (This is usually dictated by the college of
origin)
