This is a close-up view, just cranial to the kidney. I hope you recognized A and B as the celiac artery and cranial mesenteric artery, respectively. The phrenico-abdominal artery and vein (C) cross over a small gland adjacent to the anterior pole of the kidney. This is the adrenal gland (D). We will discuss its function in detail in Unit 25, but do not forget where it is at - it is ADjacent to the RENAL structures.
