In this image, we can better see how the uterine body (A) in this dog has somewhat of a sigmoid flexure (this is an artifact). Only the right uterine horn (B) can be seen. This image also demonstrates the round ligament of the uterus (C), which is comes off the lateral aspect of the broad ligament (D), extending from the caudal edge of the proper ligament of the ovary (a) to the vaginal process (b) in the body wall. Also labelled, for your reference, is the urinary bladder (E), which lies ventral to the uterus, and the descending colon (F), which lies dorsal to the uterus. |
