Muscles of the Brachium [Up] [extrinsicmm.] [intrinsicmm.] [arteries] [nerves] [Equine digit] [joints] [shoulder] [image 1] [image 2] [image 3] [forearm]
Once again, A is the long head of the triceps brachii muscle. The lateral head (B) has been transected to expose the underlying accessory head (C) and branches of the radial nerve (D), which innervate all of the heads of the triceps brachii muscle. The bellies of the triceps brachii muscle act to extend the elbow. We have also exposed the brachialis muscle (E). Cut at its origin and reflected to the side is the biceps brachii muscle (F). These two muscles are innervated by the musculocutaneous nerve and act to flex the elbow.
