Gray Matter

The gray matter of the brain and spinal cord contain the nerve cell bodies and supportive cells. For the time being, we will call these supportive cells glial cells or neuroglia. In the first two images below (click on the image to view close-up), we will concentrate on the nerve cell bodies. Look at both of them. In the third image, we will look closer at the glial cells.
