Ileum
You should first be able to identify this as small intestine
because of the presence of villi. Click on this button
to compare it to the large intestine,
which has crypts but no villi. Although lymphatic nodules and Peyer's
patches are scattered throughout the
digestive system, only in the ileum do we see such dense clusters
of Peyer's patches. Similar aggregates in the pharynx and
base of tongue are known as tonsils.
