Lateral Sheep Brain [Up] [Lateral Brain] [Saggital Brain] [Ventral Brain] [Dorsal Brain] [Lab 7H]
A. Pyriform lobe is ventral to the rhinal sulcus (H); B. Frontal lobe is rostral to the cruciate sulcus (F); From the dorsal view, the cruciate sulcus forms a cross with the longitudinal fissure - hence, cruciate; C. Parietal lobe is caudal to the cruciate sulcus (F) and dorsal to the sylvian gyri (I); D. Occipital lobe; E. Temporal lobe is caudal to the pseudosylvian sulcus (G); The other structures are: J. Optic nerve (CN II); K. Trigeminal nerve (CN V); L. Brainstem; and M. Cerebellum. (see below for function of lobes) The pyriform lobe is continuous with the olfactory bulbs and is part of the "smell brain." The frontal lobe is part of the motor cortex; The parietal lobe is both sensory (somesthetic) and motor cortex; The occipital lobe is the visual cortex; and finally, the temporal lobe is the auditory cortex. |
