Nasal Passages

Remember from our study of the skull, a meatus was a passage, channel or opening of a canal. In the nasal cavity, the passages above, between and below the nasal conchae (turbinates) are the dorsal (A), middle (C) and ventral (E) nasal meatuses. The dorsal nasal conchae (or, if you prefer, turbinates) is B; The ventral nasal conchae is D; and the ethmoid conchae, which contain olfactory epithelium, is F. The ethmoid conchae attach to the cribriform plate (click where it says Click Here). The cavities of the skull surrounding G are the frontal sinuses.
