Perichondrium    [Back]

The perichondrium (PC) nourishes the avascular cartilage, and it also contains cells (remember mesenchymal cells?) which can differentiate into chondroblasts. Growth from the perichondrium is appositional growth. Bone growth occurs similarly from the periosteum.
