The Pharynx [ Up ] [ image1 ] [ image2 ] [ image3 ]
The hard palate ends at the left edge of A, defining B as the choanae. The soft palate is to the right of A. The passage above the soft palate is the nasal pharynx (C). Within the nasal pharanx, we find the openning of a passage which leads to the middle ear, the auditory tube (D);. Below the soft palate is the oral pharanx (E). The portion of the pharynx which is above the larynx (the epiglottis is labelled F) and leads to the esophagus is the laryngeal pharanx (G). Aggregates of lymphoid nodules in the pharynx are called tonsils, and H is one of the palatine tonsils. |
