Cerebrum: A. Gray matter; B. White matter (corona radiata); Cavity C. Lateral ventricle; The tan lacy structure D. is the choroid plexus (what is the function of the choroid plexus?); Regions of the brainstem: E. Pons; F. Medulla oblongata.  Aside from the functions related to the cranial nerve nuclei present, what are the functions of the pons and medulla oblongata?

The choroid plexus produces the cerebral spinal fluid within the ventricles. This fluid gains access to the subarachnoid space (remember that?) through the lateral apertures of the fourth ventricle. The pons is responsible for normal standing, the sensation of movement (kinesthesia) and overall consciousness of the animal. The medulla oblongata is also responsible for the sensation of movement.
