Sinus Hair Follicle [Back]
After looking at the cross-section of the hair follicle, I hope you can identify the medulla, cortex, inner and outer root sheaths. The lightly acidophilic ring around the outer root sheath is a thickened basal lamina. To keep it simple, the sinus hair follicle then has inner and outer connective tissue layers (a & b, respectively), which are separated by a blood filled sinus. Movement of the hair is amplified by the wave motion in the blood. |
