[Up] Muscles of the Trunk [Pectoral mm.] [Hoof]
The latissimus dorsi muscle (A) has been transected in this image to reveal the origin of the external abdominal oblique muscle (B). This also exposes a portion of the serratus ventralis muscle (Lab 5). You will transect the latissimus dorsi muscle in lab 5. The ventral portion of the external abdominal oblique muscle is like a tendonous sheet, which we call an aponeurosis (C). The aponeuroses from each side of the animal join on the ventral midline.
