This is a longitudinal section of the kidney. After I cut it, I decided to change the lab procedures to have you cut a transverse section (it is easier to do). Were you able to identify the capsule (A), the cortex (B), the medulla (C), the renal pelvis (D) and the ureter (E)? As you can see here, the dilated end of the ureter creates the renal pelvis.
