Smooth Muscle
How would you characterize this muscle? The nuclei are centrally located, there are no striations, and the muscle fibers do not branch. Another good clue that this is smooth muscle is that when smooth muscle contracts, the nuclei take on a corkscrew appearance. In Virtual Microscopy, you will be looking at the wall of a muscular artery. Also, go back and look at the thick outer layer of the ileum (Slide 29, Lab 2) [WebSlide] Cardiovascular_WSU; Digital artery (WSU_1_080) |
