River is
a 3 year old female bald eagle who was
found by rafters and local residents North of
Colville, Washington. She was unable to fly and
had been mauled by a dog before being presented to WSU’s veterinary
teaching hospital for care.
River was treated for lead poisoning and was successfully returned to
her home environment North of Colville along the Kettle Falls
river.
After release, it was suspected that River was
nesting about a mile south of her release location. On January 30,
2007 she was spotted feeding on a deer kill on the ice of the Kettle
Falls River.
River's story was reported Friday, Dec. 23,
