Using Netscape Navigator 4.08 and above

  1. Save the file you want to transfer to us onto your computer, or diskette. Make sure you know where it is saved.
  2. Click on the link at the bottom of this section, but read these instructions first:
  3. When you click on the link below (ftp://bcu.vetmed.wsu.edu) you will be asked for a username and password. Please call us at 335-2624 this information.
  4. Once you login,  it will take you to another page starting with "Current directory is /". At the bottom of this screen you will see a list of directories. To pick up files go to "BCU Pickup", right click on your file and from the drop down menu select "Save Link as".  To send us a file which you want us to image for you, click on the "BCU In Box". This will take you to another page with a list of directories. Unfortunately, netscape will not allow you to create a subdirectory, but it will allow you to upload a file directly into the inbox. To do this, go up to the "File" menu of netscape. From the drop down menu, select "Upload File...". At this point a window will appear which will allow you to scroll through your computer and select the file you want to transfer. Once you've chosen the file, it will be uploaded. You will need to follow these instructions for each file you want to transfer.
  5. At this point it is important that you remember to call BCU at 335-2624, and place your order. Give the clerk all of the necessary information including the name of your file, the file type, and tell them that your file is in the InBox, but it is not under a subdirectory.
  6. Now begin: click here to go to the ftp site.

Using FTP software

There are many ways of transferring files to BCU without ever leaving your office. One of those ways is by using an FTP site. FTP stands for "File Transfer Protocal". If you are not directly hooked up to WSU's College of Veterinary Medicine NT network, ftp is a viable option. All you need is to be hooked up to the Internet.

There are many FTP programs out there which operate within Windows and Macintosh environments. Most of them can be downloaded free from the Internet. Search around and see if you find any you like. Here are some suggestions.

There are many other ftp programs that will work as well. However regardless of which program you are using you will need to utilize the following information.

NOTE: We no longer have an anonymous login.   For the username and password please call us at 335-2624.
