Proxima Video/Computer Projector
VHS video, S-VHS video, PC & MAC VGA
signals
The Proxima multimedia projectors
project a bright image from all computer and video sources. Connecting your video and
computer is truly as simple as plug and play. It is meant to directly project most
computer RGB signals including PCs, MAC, and laptops. They can also directly project VHS
video & S-VHS video signals along with an audio channel.
Equipment available: There are currently two Proxima
Multimedia projector units and two laptop computers available for checkout for the College
of Veterinary Medicine faculty, residents, and graduate students only. However, they are
heavily used so you will want to reserve them as soon as possible.
Checkout Policy: The Proximas are checked out for
the specific hours in which they are being used. The laptops can be checked out the night
before (after 4pm), but need to be returned immediately after your presentation.
Locations of Projectors and Laptops:
- One Proxima Projector is permanentl installed in room
1410/1408 of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (VTH). It is not available for checkout. A
local computer is also permanently attached to it in this room.
- A second Proxima Projector and a laptop can be checked out
from BCU, (509) 335-2624.
- And a third Proxima and laptop can be checked from the
Veterinary Medical/Pharmacy Library in Wegner hall, (509) 335-9556.
The units are somewhat cumbersome, so it is best to check
out the unit that is closest to the room you will be using.

SPECIAL INSTRUCTIONS:
While the Proxima projector is a very expensive "high tech" piece of equipment,
we have chosen it for it's quality image and ease of use by the non-technical person.
There are some special features on this machine that need to be followed for the machine
to operate properly, so we encourage even the technically minded to read through and
follow these instructions rather than use trial and error. An error with this machine
could be costly both in time and money.
1. POSITIONING:
Remove the projector from its case and place it on a on a solid flat surface at a right
angle (perpendicular) to the projection screen, parallel to the floor. Handle this machine
carefully, it contains precision optics! Set the projector a minimum of 5' and a maximum
of 30' from the screen. (At a distance of 10' from the screen the minimum image size is
5.7' diagonal and the maximum is 8.5' diagonal.)

TURNING ON THE PROJECTOR AND LAMP: ALWAYS power the projector up before the
computer. This allows the computer to sense the projector during its startup sequence.
- Click AC POWER switch (switch on side of projector just
above the power cord input) to the ON position. The power indicator on the projector
control panel (or remote) turns green (a button with a circled "I") and the
power button turns orange to indicate a successful self-test.

acknowledge the command.
- Now, turn on your computer or video source. You are working
with a SMART projector. As long as only one signal is being sent to it, it will select
that source and project it on the screen. It will usually discern the specifics of the
image (resolution, MHz, video or S-video, etc.) and adjust the image accordingly.
- If you have more than one source coming into the projector,
you can switch between the active connected sources by using the "source" button
on the control panel .
CAUTION: Never operate the projector if the air
intake or exhaust grills are clogged or obstructed, or if the electric fan is not running.
