The purpose of the student chapter of the AAFP is to promote awareness of the growing popularity of cats as pets and patients; to supplement the education of veterinary students with feline medical and surgical topics and to offer practical experience in handling cats.  The group hosts speakers, sponsors trips to Cat Tales – a feline wildlife preserve in Spokane, WA, hosts labs for students to gain additional experience working with cats; and cares for the WSU resident blood donor cats.  The group holds fund-raising events such sales of t-shirts, cat nip pillows and handmade greeting cards in order to help fund members' trips to feline-related conferences.
