American Association of Feline Practitioners (AAFP)


Objectives of the student Chapter

  • To supplement veterinary students’ education regarding feline medicine and surgery
  • To promote awareness of the growing popularity of felines as pets and patients
  • To offer practical experience in handling cats

Activities of the student chapter

  • Host speakers monthly on a variety of topics including: feline viral diseases, feline oncology and feline theriogenology
  • Sponsor trips to and visits from Cat Tales – a feline wildlife preserve in Spokane, WA
  • Host labs for students to gain additional experience working with cats
  • Help fund members’ trips to feline-related conferences such as the National AAFP Convention and the Western States Veterinary Convention
  • Participate in WSU Vet School Open House
  • Various fund-raising events such sales of t-shirts, cat nip pillows and handmade greeting cards
  • Invite practitioners that practice feline-only medicine to speak to vet students
  • Care and provide supplies for the WSU resident blood donor cats
