SAVMA Symposium March 2010 at Wisconsin
I would like to start off by thanking all of you who contributed,
in one way or another, to the fundraising for SAVMA Symposium this
year. It was a success in that we raised enough money to send
49 students to Madison, WI to represent WSU. Not many other
schools have such a program and I feel our students benefit
incredibly from the experience. The days at symposium this
year were filled with lectures, competitions, day trips, and an
exhibition hall where students could catch up on the new products
available to veterinarians. Just to make sure you know
you are getting your money’s worth, WSU students racked up some
pretty good awards.
Our bovine palpation team brought home the first place award and was
made up of:
Sarah Giebel
Sam Nielsen
Craig Louder
Jesse Olsen
Also, our equine aging team brought home the second place award and
was made up of:
Lacey Owen
Katrina Hartman
Anne Pierce
Chelsey Johnson
The SAVMA House of Delegates had a successful round of meetings and
our very own Aaron Gibbons has taken the gavel as the SAVMA
President for the next year. Kristi and I are honored to work
with Aaron and believe that SAVMA can do some amazing work for its
members in the year to come.
The 2012 bid for SAVMA Symposium was won by Purdue University, so we
are looking forward to visiting Indiana. Of course before that
we will visit sunny California for Symposium next year at UC Davis.
Once again, I would like to thank you all for your support. We
have some fine individuals representing our school who have been
trained by the very best.
