  Wildlife Club

Description of the Club:  Over this last year we have had several speakers from all over the country (and one from Russia!) come to talk to the club about opportunities in the field of wildlife and zoo animal medicine. Club members have had classes on how to perform emergency medicine on raptors, and how to make and shoot a blow dart.  To help pay for the club's trip to the west side, we have been fundraising throughout the year with our famous vetmed pint glass sales.  We hope to incorporate more facilities in our trip next year, and to have even more speakers come to help us learn about the opportunites with working with wildlife.

Photo Contest 2006

Photos of 2007 Club Trip: Over one of our three day weekends this Spring we made it over to Seattle to visit five facilities:  PAWS, Point Defiance Zoo, Woodland Park Zoo, Seattle Aquarium, and Northwest Trek.  We were given behind-the-scenes tours of the veterinary care facilites at all of these locations, and were able to talk to the head veterinarians there.  At Woodland park zoo we were allowed to watch the exam and radiographing of a Tawny Frogmouth with a drooping wing, and were allowed to get up close and personal with the grizzly bears at Northwest Trek.  Though it was a very busy weekend, everyone who participated found it very educational and a lot of fun!  We can't wait until our 2008 trip!Click on an image for a larger view
