Program WrapUp
The Club hosted the 2nd annual Feline Medicine Symposium on December 6,
2003. More than 70 veterinary students, veterinarians, and veterinary
technicians attended the all day lectures of current topics on feline
medicine presented by WSU faulty and renowned specialists.

The day started off with Patricia Pryor, DVM, Dipl. ACVB, discussing the
diagnosis and management of feline aggression towards people. Rance
Sellon, DVM, Ph.D., Dipl. ACVIM, followed with a discussion on the
pathophisiology, diagnosis and treatment of feline asthma. The lectures
before lunch ended with Graham Swinney, BVSc, FACVSc, who discussed the
etiology, diagnosis, and management of feline diabetes mellitus.

The discussions after lunch began with a lecture on zoonoses related to
feline feces and fleas via telecommunication by Michael Lapin, DVM,
Ph.D., Dipl. ACVIM, of Colorado State University. The day’s lectures
were capped by Lila Miller, DVM, an ASPCA Senior Director who discussed
feline health and shelter medicine.

The day ended with a large raffle of feline related items and a
gathering at Pete’s, a local Bar and Grill.
