The medical care and temporary housing of injured and rehabilitating birds
is provided by the College of Veterinary Medicine at Washington State
University. Food is obtained from various university-wide
sources and donations. Maintenance of facilities and equipment and provision
of transportation depend primarily on volunteer commitments of faculty,
staff, students and the public. Financial support is always welcome and
contributions to our raptor rehabilitation endowment would be greatly
appreciated. For information about the endowment please contact:

Invite us to give a talk to your class or group. We are pleased to
make educational presentations for local classrooms, clubs, and organizations. The
programs include live demonstrations using our educational birds (non-releasable raptors). Our presenters are able to adapt the presentations to any age or interest group.
Our hope is to raise awareness about the birds and their special ecological requirements.
If you would like us to give a presentation to your group, please send a written request
at least two weeks before the date you'd like us to come. Written requests and follow-up
letters help us document our activities and underscore the importance of rehabilitation in
furthering medical knowledge as well as education and conservation benefits.

Help feed and care for the birds. Feeding birds involves serving wholesome food to
resident and rehabilitating birds. You also change water, gather feathers and pellets, maintain the
mews and chart progress of birds under our care. You can sign up for a week or
split a week with other people. Don't be shy-- we'll train you!
Help handle birds for presentations. We always need help with educational
presentations and welcome your participation. We ask, however, that you be committed since
learning to handle the raptors and learning their stories takes time to teach you.
Make us an offer! If you have something you can contribute that we didn't think of here
let us know.
