Fibrinogen

Glomerular tuft and DIC

Look at the edges of the glomerular tufts for the irregularly-shaped,
eosinophilic microthrombi.  In some instances, sufficient thrombi are present to
cause a macroscopic infarct in the kidney.

Pericarditis with Fibrinous Exudate

When the inflammatory exudate contains plentiful fibrinogen, this polymerises
into a thick fibrin coating. This is often seen in acute pericarditis and gives the
parietal and visceral pericardium a 'bread and butter' appearance.
