Liver from a cow:  The coalescing dark red foci correspond histologically to centrilobular congestion and/or hemorrhage. 

Can you explain the centrilobular distribution?  
What would be the effect of this lesion on liver enzymes?

Chronic passive congestion leading to fibrosis (cow):  
This liver would be firmer than normal.  The pale, coalescing foci are interconnecting zones of fibrous connective tissue that are centered around central veins.
