Hepatic Necrosis:  The pale circular lesion in the center of this field is a focus of acute hepatic necrosis.  You can see some vacuolation (fatty change) in the hepatocytes immediately surrounding the necrosis, and some swelling of cells.  However, the remainder of the liver is relatively normal.

What would be the effect of this lesion on liver enzymes measured in serum, assuming more of the liver is affected?  Why?
