| Macronodular cirrhosis in a Doberman Pinscher: Note the large nodules of regeneration. Macronodular refers to the size of the regenerative nodules. The surrounding tissue is firm due to fibrosis. The underlying cause of cirrhosis is often no longer apparent, but is typically a chronic, persistent injury. In this case, the cause was a chronic "copper-associated" hepatitis which occurs in this breed. |
