Micronodular cirrhosis in a dog:  Note the small nodules of regeneration especially to the left. Micronodular simply refers to the size of the nodules (<0.5 cm).  This liver is more firm than normal due to fibrosis.  The underlying cause of cirrhosis is often no longer apparent, but is typically a chronic, persistent injury.
