VCAPP

Faculty Areas Of Investigation

The research conducted in the Department of Veterinary and Comparative Anatomy, Pharmacology and Physiology (VCAPP) benefits society by improving our understanding of some of the leading causes of death and disability in the U.S.  These include: learning and memory disorders, sleep function, muscle movement and movement disorders, vision disorders, diabetes, obesity and eating disorders, alcohol and drug abuse, and heart disease. All of these areas involve the disciplines of anatomy, pharmacology and physiology and are represented by faculty of internationally recognized stature. The department is home to the greatest concentration of neuroscience researchers in the Inland Northwest, and the University is home to the Northern Rocky Mountain Chapter of the Society for Neuroscience. VCAPP is the base department for The Alcohol and Drug Abuse Program at Washington State University.  In addition to many interdisciplinary collaborative efforts within the department, the college and the University, VCAPP faculty members participate in collaborations with colleagues in many other academic institutions and agencies. We encourage you to call or write to specific faculty whose interests may be similar to your own.
