  Appointments

Appointments for equine patients to be seen at the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital may be made by referral or directly.

Referral Appointments: Your veterinarian calls the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital and speaks directly with a clinician to convey important information about your horse’s medical history and arranges for an appointment with the appropriate service (Equine Medicine, Equine Surgery, Equine Theriogenology). This is the preferred type of appointment because the WSU clinicians are able to obtain the most accurate medical history for your horse and expedite appropriate scheduling and procedures.

Direct Appointments: You call the WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital directly to make an appointment without the involvement of your regular veterinarian.

Both types of appointments may be made by calling the main phone number of the Veterinary Teaching Hospital (509-335-0711) or the Large Animal Appointment Desk (509-335-0718).

Emergency Appointments: WSU Veterinary Teaching Hospital offers 24 hour a day emergency care for horses. You or your veterinarian should always call the hospital prior to sending a horse for emergency services. An on-call veterinarian will provide advice about the necessity of emergency care and appropriate pre-transport care. You can reach the on-call veterinarian by calling the main Veterinary Teaching Hospital switchboard (509-335-0711).
