Laura Kinslow and Sue Jacobson given 2010 CVM Employee Awards

Dean Bryan Slinker (left) named Laura Kinslow (photo top, right) and Sue Jacobson (photo bottom, right) as 2010 winners of CVM Employee Excellence Awards.  The awards were presented by Dean Slinker at the annual Dean's Advisory Picnic.

LauraKinslowEELaura Kinslow, Fiscal Tech in IPN, was named one of the five winners of the 2010 Dean's Staff Employee Excellence Awards.  The honor was announced and awarded by Dean Slinker at the annual CVM Employee Barbecue on August 11.  Phrases such as "...strives for and obtains excellence; able to see a need and respond; prime motivator is to make other people look good..." were some of the descriptions given in Jeanne's nomination for this honor.

Laura has been employed at WSU for nearly six years, starting first as a timeslip assistant while she was a student at WSU.  She did such an outstanding job for IPN, she was hired after her graduation to a full time IPN position.  Laura is commonly seen planning and coordinating IPN events and making certain the "background" of these events run seamlessly, or doing any of a hundred duties that may need to be accomplished (always without complaint).

Nominators praised Laura for "...friendliness draws people to her...No is not in her vocabulary...We need to clone Laura...Laura models the type of performance one would like in all their employees...willingness to do whatever needs to be done to make the department function...Laura is one of the reasons IPN is a fund and energizing place to work."

SueJacobsonEEAlso given one of the five awards for 2010 was Sue Jacobson, the PATH Program Coordinator with the Pet People Partnership housed in IPN.  Sue was praised for many accomplishments.  Nominators gave such descriptions as "teaches PATH classes, writes grant applications and gives presentations to funding agencies...strong work ethic and sense of fiscal responsibility.  Sue is careful to get the most value out of each dollar spent...provides guidance to people interested in becoming NARHA certified...empathy and tenacity...truly enjoys her job and cares about the benefits riders gain from PATH and PATH to Success...does half to 2/3 of the horse care herself..."

In addition to the praise received at earning the award, co-workers agree she is also a genuinely caring and considerate person, and a great individual to know.

Congratulations to BOTH of our deserving IPN employees!

Past IPN recipients of the CVM Excellence Award include Becky Morton (1999), Paul Johnson (2001), Sandra Bellinger (2000), Richard Brown (2004), Sandi Brabb (2006), Pam Colbert (2007), and Jeanne Jensen (2008).
