Palouse Area Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH)

The joy of sitting astride and controlling a horse is an empowering experience for an individual with physical, mental and/or emotional disabilities. PATH’s mission is to provide recreational, therapeutic horseback riding for people with these challenges. Horseback riding gives individuals with disabilities a chance to strengthen and relax muscles, increase joint mobility, and improve balance, posture, and coordination in a way that makes learning fun and interesting. Acquiring these skills fosters the development of confidence and self-reliance while riders learn the basics of caring for a horse.   Palouse Area Therapeutic Horsemanship (PATH)

PATH is a North American Riding for the Handicapped Association (NARHA) Premier Accredited Center. PATH benefits not only the riders and their families, but also the community members and the WSU students and staff who volunteer their time and talents to make this program a success.

PATH offers weekly classes for people with disabilities. If you live in the area and would like to be part of PATH (as a rider or as a volunteer), please give us a call at (509) 335-7347.
