Lauri Kramer Recognized for Grant Contributions
Lauri Kramer, IPN financial staff member, was honored with
one of the Grant and Contract top awards on March 18. Lauri received
the "Grant and Contract Administration Contribution Recognition Award" for
her service nationally, regionally and locally on the work she does with
grant and contract administration.
Nominated for the award by Financial Manager, Becky Morton, and Grant
Preparation Coordinator, Jeanne Jensen, Lauri was praised for her ability to
make sure the job gets completed. "The IPN faculty depends on Lauri to
'know her stuff' so they won't have to worry about putting their budgets
together or whether or not the guidelines are followed," Becky wrote of
Lauri's contributions.
In addition to all the work Lauri completes for IPN, she also routinely
works with other universities and funding agencies around the United States
to ensure the interests of our faculty, department and university are
addressed. If there is any sort of conflict with these entities, Lauri
tactfully and successfully resolves the issues to keep IPN's important
research moving forward.
Becky also noted that Lauri is a real "team player". She is willing
to do whatever it takes for the team to succeed, "even if that is moving
equipment, completing last-minute payroll or making sure an electronic grant
has made its way through the sometimes intimidating electronic system".
As the nation moves more and more to electronic submissions, Lauri has been
on the forefront figuring out the errors and how to avoid them to get grants
submitted without incident. "She is a meticulous worker, a good
listener, one who willingly hears problems and discovers answers".
Lauri has been a speaker at recent WSU Sponsored Programs Conferences,
and she has done much budget certification training for other WSU employees.
She is currently assisting several departments on both the Pullman and
Spokane campuses to better manage their grants and contracts. She
belongs to national agency lists such as NIH, AHA, is a professional member
of NCURA, and has been an Invited speaker several times at the national
NCURA meeting in Washington, D.C.
Lauri was indeed a "good find", as Becky Morton stated.
Congratulations to Lauri, and thank you for all you do to make everyone's
jobs in IPN easier.
