Petitions for Substitutions/Transfer Credit and Waivers

Course work from other graduate programs may be substituted if approved by the student's doctoral/masters Thesis Committee, Neuroscience Curriculum Committee, and the Graduate School.  Proposed alterations in any aspect of the requirements for the degree should be directed in writing to the Chair of the Neuroscience/Veterinary Science Curriculum Committee.  The petition should indicate clearly the rationale for the proposed substitution (e.g., course outline and other materials used in the substitute course).  The response of the Neuroscience Curriculum Committee will be given to the student in writing and a copy will be provided for the student's graduate record.

Once the student has obtained program approval for transfer credit, the credit should be listed on the student's program.  Once the student's program is filed, the Graduate School evaluates the mechanics of all courses listed and decides whether these courses will be allowed to transfer.  A final decision is reached jointly between the Graduate School and the Program in Neuroscience.  For further information on transfer credit, please see the Graduate School Policies and Procedures Manual

A student may request a waiver of a core course based on prior coursework and previous academic performance.  This is done by petitioning the Chair of the Neuroscience/Veterinary Science Curriculum Committee.  The student should supply course outlines/syllabi with the written request.  The Curriculum Committee may request further information if deemed necessary.
