Cancer in Animals

How you Can Help Advance Cancer Care for Pets

The Oncology Service of Washington State University’s College of Veterinary Medicine is committed to providing world class cancer care to companion animals. In addition, we are leading efforts to expand comparative cancer research for the benefit of both humans and their companions.  At the same time, this service provides students with the highest quality veterinary education bringing knowledge to practices across the globe.

A program like ours and with our goals needs the benevolence of friends who share our vision and want to join our effort to help animals.  Modern programs evolve and require continued facilities enhancement.  Recruiting and retaining the best people, both faculty and technical staff, is also vital in the pursuit of these goals.  Here is where you can help.

If you would like to make a donation specifically for the Cancer Program please select the link at the upper left of this page: Give to Oncology or select I Want to Give for other giving opportunities. For questions contact Lynne Haley.

People

A truly professional education requires face-to-face training in applicable research techniques with faculty who teach, provide clinical care, and conduct noteworthy research.  Scholarship support for student education, both DVM and Ph.D., enhances the training experience and encourages students to transition to academic positions to develop tomorrow’s researchers.

Facilities

Internationally recognized programs require state of the art facilities as well as maintenance and operations funding best provided by endowed gifts.  Rapidly changing technology must be updated regularly to allow faculty and students to conduct groundbreaking research in the fight against cancer.

Programs

In collaboration with other Washington researchers and practitioners, WSU is developing a transplantation medicine program at the heart of cancer care.  This brings new hope of prolonged survival to dogs with cancer.  Facilities expansion and specialty personnel are necessary to grow and export this program to benefit dogs everywhere.  The Comparative Oncology Laboratory is the flagship of this research effort at the intersection of human and animal disease.

Promise

Collectively, faculty, staff, students, and most importantly benefactors are the critical components necessary to conduct world class research and provide an internationally recognized center of excellence in animal cancer care and research at WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine.  Your gift will make a lasting difference in the lives of companion animals and humans with cancer.
