General Policies

  1. All cases except those exclusively for toxicology will be assessed an accession fee of $10.00. An accession is defined as specimen(s) of one animal species or miscellaneous substances belonging to one owner and submitted at one time.
     
  2. Non-Washington samples will be assessed a 50% surcharge except where indicated.
     
  3. Clinical pathology services (e.g., hematology and cytology) are provided by the Department of Veterinary Clinical Sciences (VCS) – (509-335-0745). These services are billed by VCS.
     
  4. Poultry and food safety testing is performed primarily by the WADDL Avian Health and Food Safety Laboratory. Samples can be sent directly to:

  5. A fax, mail or electronic report is provided at no charge.
     
  6. Samples sent for analysis to outside labs are billed for any additional direct costs incurred. Handling fee (includes postage) is $15.00 plus $2.00 per tube (Serology).
     
  7. Fees are subject to change without notice.
     
  8. "STAT" fee - Please contact lab in advance to arrange scheduling and fees.

  10. To submit fresh brain tissue for rabies testing only, call the local health department. Specimens are tested by the Washington State Department of Health:

    Samples for rabies testing as part of a complete neurological disease workup will be forwarded to the Washington Public Health Laboratories by WADDL
     
  11. Agriculture Animal: cattle, sheep, goats, camelids, pigs, poultry, fish, or other production animals.

    Other Animal: cats, dogs, horses, wildlife, zoo animals and all other non-production animals.
     
  12. Specimens submitted for examination may undergo additional diagnostic testing for state or federal disease surveillance programs, particularly involving foreign animal diseases.
