Release of "Family" the Peregrine Falcon

Veterinarians at WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine successfully released a rehabilitated Peregrine Falcon, Thursday August 9th, at the Asotin Wildlife area along the banks of the Snake River.
The male falcon, nicknamed “Family” by the WSU’s raptor rehabilitation team was originally found in rural central Idaho in May.  The bird was barely conscious, and was extremely thin and dehydrated.  A series of tests and x-rays could not determine any injuries. After months of good food, exercise, and care, “Family” was eager and ready for release.

The falcon made a quick flight across the river and found a tree along the steep cliffs where it settled in comfortably.  WSU’s College of Veterinary Medicine treats hundreds of injured raptors and other wildlife every year at no cost to taxpayers.
