a five year old female, pregnant Huacaya alpaca, was presented to Washington
State University, College of Veterinary Medicine in July. She was weak and
unable to move. Botulism or poisoning by a toxic plant were suspected as
possible causes for her signs but neither was proven.
Global was stabilized using emergency procedures, followed by several
months of treatment with physical therapy, hydrotherapy, and acupuncture,
Global was walking again 50 days after treatment began.
Thanks to the hard work, dedication, and knowledge of the WSU veterinarians,
faculty, and students, Global and her unborn cria have a chance at life!
