Federal Excess Property Program: The Michigan Loader |
|||||
We
received the Michigan Loader through the Federal Excess Property Program
in 1987. It weighs in at 15 tons and has a 2.5 yard bucket. The
Animal Resource Unit has been able to get extensive use out of it since
then and consequently save money. When it first came them it was
painted in desert camo. The Animal Resource Unit (ARU) repainted in
Caterpillar Yellow and not long after that, placed a new Cummings engine
in it. Since that time, it has become the most labor saving device of
their hay operation. The Michigan Loader also serves other
functions for the ARU including towing disabled vehicles, plowing snow,
and acting as a fork lift. The ARU has said that they couldn't live with
out the Michigan Loader and if we would have purchased the loader on our
own it would have cost us over nineteen thousand dollars. Thanks to
the Federal Excess Property Program and the Michigan Loader we have been
able to save countless hours of money and labor.
