Setting an example is not the main means of influencing
others; it is the only means.

My day is better when I give people a bit of my heart rather than a
piece of my mind.

You can read all the books you want. What makes a

You are not here merely to make a living. You are here
in order to enable the world to live more amply, with greater
vision, with a finer spirit of hope and achievement. You are here to
enrich the world, and you impoverish yourself if you forget the
errand.
~Woodrow Wilson |
To operate in the world from the powerful position of a
learner, one must develop a ‘questioning mindset’ ... Such a mindset
is the opposite of one that stands in critical and negative judgment
of every so-called ‘failure’.
~Marilee Goldberg

A good leader inspires others with confidence in him or
her; a great leader inspires them with confidence in themselves.

Helping clients discover and clarify their values is a
way to create a map that will guide them through the decision paths
of their lives. When you clarify values with the client you learn
more about what makes the client tick: what’s important and what’s
not. Clients discover what is truly essential to them in their
lives. It helps them take a stand and make choices based on what is
fulfilling to them. When the value is not being honored, the client
feels internal tension or dissonance.

The First Law of Leadership: If we don’t believe in the
messenger, we won’t believe in the message.

Increasingly, leadership is defined not as what the
leader does but rather as a process that engenders and is the result
of relationships - relationships that focus on the interactions of
both leaders and collaborators instead of focusing on only the
competencies of the leaders.

A word is dead when it is said, some say. I say it just
begins to live that day.
~Emily Dickenson

The only measure of what you believe is what you do. If
you want to know what people believe, don’t read what they write,
don’t ask them what they believe, just observe what they do.
~Ashley Montagu

Before I can walk in another person’s shoes, I must

Remember, we learn nothing by speaking.

Good leaders must have a strong sense of self, know
their personal strengths and weaknesses, and have a high degree of
social awareness. Leadership isn’t about studying a list of ideal
characteristics, but about knowing your ideal self - the way you
want to be and what you want your future to look like.
