FACULTY POSITION IN INTERNAL MEDICINE

The Department of Small Animal Clinical Sciences of The University of Tennessee, College of Veterinary Medicine invites applications for a full-time tenure-track faculty position in Internal Medicine.  The position is at the Assistant/Associate Professor level.  This position will be available July 1, 2006.  Requirements for the applicant include the DVM/VMD degree, completion of a formal residency in internal medicine, and certification or eligibility for certification by the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine.  Responsibilities will include clinical and didactic teaching to professional students, interns, and residents; development of a basic science or clinical research program; and participation in continuing education at the local and national levels.  The successful candidate will be expected to add to the department’s reputation and make contributions in the teaching, service, and research programs of the College. The University of Tennessee Small Animal Hospital is a modern and well-equipped facility with expertise needed to provide advanced medical service and to support research programs.  Specialty services supported by departmental faculty include: cardiology, internal medicine, oncology, neurology, general surgery, orthopedic surgery, ophthalmology, dermatology, radiology, anesthesiology, physical therapy, nutrition, and avian and exotics medicine.  Facilities include: digital radiography, nuclear medicine, computerized tomography, cobalt therapy, video endoscopy, lithotripsy, and DEXA scanning.  Start-up funds are available to help develop areas of research interest.
