About Gucan...

Biography:
Born March 3, in Nantong, Jiangsu province, China.
Grew up in a small city on the east coast of China; his hometown is a 2-hour drive from Shanghai.
Graduated from Nanjing University in 2008 and did some undergraduate research in Jian-Jun Wang's lab, where he learned basic neurophysiology within the cerebellum.
Gucan joined the WSU Neuroscience program in the fall of 2008 and completed three rotations in labs of Drs. Michael Varnum, James Krueger and Gary Wayman. He is now in Dr. Varnum's lab and studying photoreceptor cyclic nucleotide-gated ion channels.

Undergraduate Education:
Nanjing University (Nanjing, Jiangsu, China).
BS in Biological Sciences with a focus in physiology.

Current research topic:
The regulation of cone CNG channels by phosphoinositides.

Other Interests:
Gucan enjoys basketball and soccer.

Awards/Honors:
People's Scholarship, Nanjing University, 2006-2007 and 2007-2008.
