Graduate Student: Drew Nyens
I was born in Colville, WA and grew up in the neighboring town of Kettle Falls.
I come from a small family and am one of a few to have attended a large
university. My family has lived in the
country for several generations, and I enjoy many outdoor activities.

Current research topic:
I am currently studying the effects of various endogenous proteins and growth
factors on dendrite and spine development in hippocampal neurons.
I am transfecting neurons with DNA which codes for the protein of
interest (to be over-expressed) and fluorescent proteins to mark the growth of
the dendrites in culture.
Other Interests:I love
running, swimming and fishing; but I also enjoy reading, writing poetry and
