About Mami...
Biography:
I was born on April 27th in Noshiro, which is a city in Akita,
Japan. Akita is really famous because of its basketball team. I chose to attend
Odate Homei High School, which is in the next city from Noshiro, because the
school has a strong math and science program. I graduated from this school on
2001.
I worked for the Department of VCAPP as a research associate for two
years after completing my bachelor's degree. I went back to Japan for a year and
then came back to Pullman to join the graduate program in Neuroscience in August
2010.
Undergraduate Education:
When I thought about my future as a scientist, I really wanted to
pursue my career in the United States. The programs for higher education in the
US were so attractive for me. Before entering the undergraduate program, I
studied English at Intensive American Language Center (IALC) for 6 months. On
January 2004, I was able to start in the undergrad program here at WSU where I
obtained my bachelor degree in Neuroscience (minor in Psychology) in May 2007.
